Twenty-five  FAQ about ECS-IEJ London 

1/What level do I need to attend MA courses? Are the courses full time? MA access documents should be submitted for approval (BAC + 3, BAC + 4 and IELTS 6.0) and a private interview is required in order to be accepted.  Courses last 25 weeks from the beginning of October to the end of May. This is a part time schedule either occurring solely in the morning or solely in the afternoon with approximately18h courses per week.

2/Do I need to pass an Exam/Test to access all levels of Courses ? No. The exam is compulsory for entry in the First year ECS 1 or the third year ECS 3

3/Where do I pass the test ? How difficult is it and how long does it take ? The exam can be taken in any ECS in Europe. It lasts about 2 and a half hours and for ECS 1 it is BAC (A) level, for ECS 3 it is more specifically communication oriented.

4/When do courses start for 2012-13? Will I be ECS-IEJ student or LCC student? Courses start on Monday 8^th of October 2012. You will be a student solely of Mediaschool group ECS-IEJ-SUPDEWEB. The partnership with UAL-LCC is only based on shared facilities and teaching.

5/Will I have a Student ID card and special students discounts like public transport, etc.? You will have an LCC Student ID Card which will give you regular students discounts on various services/activities

6/Do I really need to get the IELTS? Are the TOELF or TOIC accepted? Are the courses only delivered in English? Only the IETLS is accepted with a minimum grade of 6.0.in the Academic Version.  For more information, visit the IELTS’ website: www.ielts.org. All our courses are exclusively in English.

7/Do I get access to the University Housing as an ECS-IEJ student?  Yes, to one or more residences. Studio/Accommodation prices approximately £170 per week

8/When can I apply for Housing residence?  Application document will be sent in May

9/What will my insurance status be? You will be considered as a regular EU student. For medical insurance purposes the EU medical insurance card is mandatory.

10/Are all ECS-IEJ teachers shared with LCC? A third of our teachers are from the LCC and the rest of them are external professionals attached to ECS-IEJ.

11/Will I be in contact with British students during the classes? ECS-IEJ London is mainly composed of EU students including French, Belgium, Spanish, Italian students...and you will have access to all the LCC facilities along with 5000 other students, most of them British, but diversity is London's asset and a large proportion comes from all around the world.

12/Can I do my internship whenever and wherever I want? How long must the internship last? You can do your internship part time during the school year (at least 8 months) and/or full time during the summer starting end of May (at least 4 months).

13/Is there an internship office within IEJ/ECS or LCC which can and help me with my internship quest? The IEJ/ECS team will be sending offers, assisting and helping you in your search as well as sharing any  LCC Web offers.

14/Can I get easily a student job?  The work market in Britain is very flexible, it is quite easy and quick to find a job: Hotels, Restaurants, Shops, Tourism, Babysitting ... and with some luck getting a paid internship to be validated will be equally stress free.

15/What is the yearly tuition fee? Is there any favourable student loan for ECS-IEJ students? Tuition fees are £7200 per year. HSBC offers special loan agreement to ECS-IEJ Students.

16/Can I benefit of an Erasmus grant? What living costs do you suggest? There is no Erasmus benefit within the IEJ/ECS London Masters. In addition to paying your fees you should ensure you have enough money to cover your individual living costs and daily expenses in London. We recommend that your budget should cover approximately £800 to £1000 per month. This figure should cover basic costs for accommodation, food, travel, study materials and entertainment.

17/What is specific to the JOURNALISM option MA course in London? An inside magazine and web site are being published and 2.0 digital journalism is the main focus. Courses are specialised in English speaking Journalism, studying the techniques and the history of different Media groups.

18/What is specific to the PR-EVENTS and DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS options MA in London? PR and Events organizing are handled quite differently in the UK than in the rest of Europe. Numerous case studies will help you grasp the different ways of working in an Anglo-Saxon environment.Digital Communications were born in the US and London is the first and most important European hub. Therefore it is the place to be to master the knowledge and the most recent practices.

20/How many ECTS credits will I get by attending an academic year in London?  60 ECTS (European Credits Transfer System).

21/If I have to cancel my application, will I get my £1900 registration fee back? In case of cancellation, before the 31st of July 2012: What you have paid will be refunded in its entirety after deducting an administration fee of £500. After the 31st of July 2012: No refund given. Any scholarship started is due for payment

22/As a non EU citizen, can the ECS-IEJ London sponsor me to obtain a VISA to study in the UK?  Unfortunately not.

23/Is the diploma certified by both Mediaschool ECS- IEJ and LCC? The Masters diplomas delivered by ECS-IEJ will bear the logo of the University of the Arts London-LCC with reference to the shared teaching partnership.

24/Where will the Graduation Ceremony take place? Do I have to attend the ceremony?  The Graduation Ceremony is scheduled for the end of November and takes place in London. Students will wear the traditional graduation gown and mortar. (There is a rental fee of £35 for the attire of the day)

FR/      25 Questions Fréquemment Posées (QFP)

1. Dois-je passer une examen d'entrée pour tous les niveaux d'études?   Non, seulement pour l'accès en première et en troisième année en plus du diplôme du Bac (ou CESS) pour ECS 1 et de deux annèes d'études supérieures en communication validées pour ECS 3.  
2. Où dois-je passer l'examen? Combien de temps cela prend-t-il et quel est le niveau de difficulté?   L'examen dure 2 heures et demi environ , il peut se passer dans toutes les ECS d'Europe sur rdvs. Il est de niveau Bac pour les ECS 1 , un peu plus spécialisé en com pour les ECS 3. Il est passé dans la langue de l'étudiant.  
3. Les cours sont-ils à temps plein ? 25 semaines de cours d'octobre à fin mai  à mi-temps à raison de 18 heures de cours par semaine environ.
4. Le niveau d'anglais doit-il obligatoirement être attesté par le IELTS ? Le TOEFL ou le TOIC sont-ils acceptés ? Exclusivement le IELTS, avec une note minimum globale de 6.0. Renseignements : www.ielts.org.
5. Les cours sont-ils exclusivement donnés en anglais ? Exclusivement en anglais par des anglophones.
6. Aurai-je accès au service de Housing et aux résidences universitaires ? Combien cela coute-t- il ? Oui, un accès prioritaire à une ou plusieurs résidences. Le prix est variable environ 150£ par semaine.
7. Aurai-je une carte d’étudiant et les réductions (transports etc…) inhérentes à celle-ci ? Oui, délivrée par LCC elle sert également de pass d'accés aux locaux
8. Aurai-je un statut d'étudiant français à Londres ou un statut d'étudiant anglais ? Un statut d'étudiant et, pour votre assurance, un statut d'étudiant à l'étranger. La carte européenne d'assurance est indispensable.
9. Les professeurs dépendent-ils de LCC ou sont-ils propres à l’ECS ? Le rapport est le suivant : environ 1/3 de LCC et 2/3 d'intervenants professionnels de l'ECS-IEJ.
10. Serai-je avec des étudiants anglais en cours ? A l'ECS-IEJ London durant les cours ce sont essentiellement des étudiants continentaux mais vous aurez accès à toutes les activités de LCC aux cotés de plus de 5000 étudiants internationaux dont une majorité de britanniques dans le même campus.
11. Le stage peut-il s’effectuer pendant les mois d’été dans la destination de mon choix ? Quelle est la durée du stage ? A quelle période se fait-il ?A mi-temps pendant toute l'année (8mois) ou/et à plein-temps pendant les mois d'été (4mois minimum).
12. Y-a-t- il un bureau des stages propre à l'ECS-IEJ Londres pour trouver nos stages ?  Il existe une assistance et un suivi pour votre recherche des stages.
13. Puis-je bénéficier d'une bourse Erasmus ? Non pas au sein de l'ECS-IEJ.
14. Existe-t-il un prêt bancaire étudiant négocié par l'ECS ? Vous pouvez bénéficier d'une recommandation auprès de la banque HSBC .
15. Quelle sont les spécialisations du nouveau Mastère IEJ à Londres ? Spécialisation dans la pratique du journalisme anglophone, la connaissance du monde de la presse anglo-saxon et le 2.0 journalisme Web /digital.
16. Quelle sont les spécialisations des Mastère ECS à Londres ? Communication 360° renforcée en PR et Events ou en Communication Digitale , étudiée et mise en pratique par études de cas sous le prisme anglo-saxon.  Voir la rubrique Mastères de ce site.

18. La rentrée scolaire a-t-elle lieu en septembre ou en octobre? Le lundi 8 Octobre précisément en 2012 pour toutes les classes. Notre calendrier est calqué sur celui de notre université partenaire.
19. Combien de crédits ECTS représentent l'année à Londres ? 60 ECTS.
20. Si je règle l'acompte de ma scolarité -1900£- et que je décide de ne pas étudier à l'ECS-IEJ de Londres, suis-je remboursé(e)?  En cas de désistement  avant le 31 juillet, le montant du versement effectué sera remboursé déduction faite de la somme de 500 £ pour frais de dossier, au-delà du 31 juillet, aucun remboursement ne sera consenti. Toute scolarité commencée est due.
21. De quelle somme dois-je disposer pour mes frais de vie à Londres? On recommande pour Londres un budget d'approximativement 800 £ à 1000 £ par mois, variable en fonction du lieu de logement, des déplacements, nourriture et divertissements.   
22. Etant de nationalité Non Européenne, l'ECS-IEJ London peut-elle s'occuper de ma demande de visa auprès de l'immigration Britannique ? Non, hélas.
23. Le diplôme est-il un diplôme joint entre IEJ et LCC ? Les Mastères certifiés par l'état Français de niveau 1 et 2,  porteront  un ajout du logo de University of the Arts London/LCC et  la mention "enseignement en partenariat".
24. Y a-t-il une remise des diplômes à Londres et puis-je aussi assister à la célébration dans mon établissement d'origine ? Oui, une remise de diplôme à Londres fin novembre en toge et mortier traditionnels. (Frais de location de la tenue du jour £35). Votre présence à la remise dans votre école ou université source est également favorisée.
25. Vais-je aimer Londres ? Comment ne pas s'y plaire ? "...Être fatigué de Londres, c'est être fatigué de la vie, car il y a à Londres tout ce que la vie peut apporter ..." déclarait Samuel Johnson déjà en 1777 , et aujourd'hui plus que jamais
